Introducing Wet Hop Harvest Ale, the 18th release in our limited run 174 Taproom Series.
A few weeks back, our brewers Jon & Mario travelled to Hillier, ON to visit the good people @pleasantvalleyhopsontario Catherine and Edgar Ramirez, who have been operating the farm for 19 years, planted their first hop yard in 2013 and produce a range of top quality hop varietals reflecting the unique terroir of Prince Edward County’s limestone bedrock and stony soils. This year we selected fresh Cascade, and in less 24 hours, these gorgeous cones went from vine to vessel to create our first annual “wet hop” ale.
Brewed with a selection of locally grown hops and malts, our Harvest Ale was crafted to showcase the incredible ingredients our province has to offer. Pouring deep ruby brown with an off white head, offering aromas and flavours of caramel and toffee, a solid malt backbone balanced by floral and citrus notes, finishing slightly sweet with a lingering hop bitterness and slight alcohol warmth. A prefect pairing with grilled and roasted meats, crisp fall nights, and your favourite people. Cheers to you, Ontario!
